You know what that means. Yup. We need to recruit again. We had a couple of weeks of blissful overpopulation with players on the bench at raid time. Now we’re down 2 and we nearly could not raid this week.
To compound the roster problems, I have had a very nasty Internet service degradation this week that causes packet delays of up to 5 seconds. In a raid this translates to all action freezing for several seconds then zipping forward in time very quickly. We had only 10 people logged in on Tuesday, so we ran Ulduar 25 instead of Firelands-10, on the theory that my inability to play at full capacity wouldn’t doom us. On Wednesday, somebody made an effort to log in especially to cover for me. On Thursday, that person couldn’t do it again, so we had exactly 10. And I raided.
My guild was short a healer again last night, and also short the tank that would have allowed one of our two tanks to flip to his healing spec. There are only so many encounters we can two-heal right now and we definitely can’t two-heal the hardmode fights we want to work on next. We had this problem Monday night as well. So therefore, we’re recruiting. I think we’re recruiting a priest with a DPS offspec. Either flavor of priest. I personally would take a clued-in resto shaman as well, but the forum recruiting thread says priest, and I’m mellow.
It’s a lovely little guild, by the way. Not hideously social. You can log in and do your dailies silently if that’s what you want to do. But we have a good time in raids, our raid leader is calm and well-prepared, and our raiding team is solid. We assume that everybody is a responsible adult who knows their class, prepares themselves appropriately, and will do what it takes to adjust to solve the current problem in front of us. Nobody’s going to tell you how to do anything. Also, no politics or phobias in guild chat. Nobody will use “rape” as a metaphor for victory.
Where was I? Oh, right, raid night with a healer-light roster. What we did Monday night was run the first half of Burning Crusade raid progression, starting with Karazhan and finishing up with Black Temple. Guild achievements galore! I was surprised by how many BC-era raiders we had who remembered all the pulls. When it happened again last night, we finished off BC raiding and got the meta achievement for both the guild and us players. I’d never seen BT or Sunwell before, so that was cool. The event at the end of Sunwell was cool.
We ran Zul’Aman last night and I thought, damn, these troll raids are awesome. The bosses are neat, the designs are cool, and it’s a shame they’re not run any more. I wish Blizzard would give us another troll raid. And this morning, boom! Good news!
I wonder how much content recycling they’ll do. Karazhan is the obvious next candidate because people are so fond of it. Now that they’ve dipped their hand into the BC cookie jar, not just the classic one, it seems possible.
